COACH BROWN: Welcome

PRESS RELEASE, JANUARY 2018:

Mishawaka, Ind. – Bethel College Athletic Director Tom Visker is pleased to announce that Jeremy Brown has accepted the head coaching position of the women's lacrosse program, the second coach in program history.

Brown, who served as an assistant coach last season, takes over for Scott Holmes. The Pilots finished 14-4 in their second season as a varsity program last year and earned a runner-up finish in the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse League championship game to Grand Valley State.

"I would like to thank Tom and [Bethel College Vice President for Student Development] Shawn Holtgren for their trust in me as the next leader of this special program," stated Brown. "I am honored and excited to be a Pilot and continue building the Bethel women's lacrosse program in a way that reflects the high standards of Bethel athletics. We will be a program that is built on trust, love, and a commitment to excellence in everything we do, while giving glory to God."

As a veteran coach, Brown has 17 years of experience under his belt, leading the Penn High School girls' lacrosse team. During that time with the Penn Lady Kingsmen, Brown led the squad to a pair of state championships along with three runners-up finishes. In total, he has coached five all-Americans along with dozens of all-state players, including five all-state goalies. His team was also awarded the inaugural Honor the Game award by USL's Indiana chapter for their sportsmanship and respect of the game.

In addition to his time at Penn, Brown has also coached the Indiana All-Star Team in the Vail Shootout and the Indiana/Kentucky Team in the USL Women's Division National Tournament. He served as the president of the Indiana Girls Lacrosse Association for seven years and helped oversee the growth of lacrosse throughout the entire state.

"I am pleased that Jeremy has accepted our offer to become our head coach," commented Visker. "He will be able to build our program on the solid foundation laid by former head coach Scott Holmes.  He knows our team well from his role as our assistant coach.  Jeremy has a good lacrosse background, is well connected in the high school lacrosse community, and has a great heart to develop our women athletically, spiritually, and academically."
